My dear students and friends of B.A.B.E.:
B.A.B.E. will be off-line for most of August. Please fill out our survey, so we can bring you the classes you want when we return.
We are offering a very special workshop at the end of August!
The late Dixie Evans, The Marilyn Monroe of Burlesque, kept the torch of burlesque burning with the Exotic World Museum and Striptease Pageant. Without her work, the neo-burlesque revival would not be flourishing today. For Dixie's birthday, August 28, we're presenting Blonde Bombshell, a striptease routine created in her honor!
All proceeds from this class will go to BurlyCares, a charity that supports our burlesque Legends.
We’re proud and excited to announce that Miss Mina has been named as Director of Education for the new American Burlesque Collection. Along with other burlesque scholars, she’ll be helping create the wall text and developing the educational programs that will be offered through the museum. The American Burlesque Collection, which opens officially on Labor Day in Salem, MA, documents the history and cultural impact of burlesque since it arrived in the United States in the 1860s. Multiple exhibits highlight different aspects of the art of the tease. Initial offerings include: Burlesque at the Movies, Backstage with Lynn O’Neill, Now it’s Neoburlesque, and Burlesque in New England, as well as a display of over thirty autographed photos of the legendary Lili St. Cyr.
Always keep learning,
